Activist Rohit Joshi Highlights Violations of PoP Idol Immersion Ban in Mumbai

Mumbai-based activist Rohit Joshi has flagged widespread violations of the Bombay High Court's ban on Plaster of Paris (PoP) idol immersion during the ongoing Maghi Ganesh festival. Despite the court's directives to enforce Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) guidelines, PoP idols are reportedly being sold and immersed, raising environmental concerns. Joshi emphasized the ecological damage caused by non-biodegradable materials in water bodies and called for stricter enforcement by civic authorities. The High Court had earlier mandated adherence to eco-friendly practices for idol-making and immersion.
