Svayam, a leading accessibility organization, celebrated World Accessibility Day 2025 with a series of impactful initiatives during the Khelo India Para Games (KIPG) closing ceremony in New Delhi. The event highlighted the importance of creating inclusive environments for people of all abilities.
A key moment of the celebration was the launch of the "Handbook on Accessibility of Sports Facilities," aimed at providing practical guidelines for designing and retrofitting inclusive sports infrastructure. The handbook was unveiled by Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, Raksha Nikhil Kadse, alongside Svayam's founder-chairperson, Sminu Jindal.
As the official accessibility partner for KIPG, Svayam implemented barrier-free systems across venues, including structural upgrades, mobility assistance, and volunteer training. These efforts ensured a seamless and dignified experience for over 1,200 athletes, coaches, and officials.
The celebration also featured sensitization drives, campus engagements, and a national seminar, all centered on the theme "Accessibility is a Human Right." Svayam's initiatives continue to pave the way for a more inclusive and equitable society.
