India's transportation scene is ready for a dramatic overhaul with the country's first hyperloop test track being completed. IIT Madras has come up with a 422-meter-long hyperloop test track in collaboration with the Ministry of Railways. The revolutionary technology has the capability to travel 350 km within 30 minutes, and can cut the journey from Delhi to Jaipur by less than 30 minutes. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw made the announcement, crediting the government-academia partnership behind innovation in future transportation. The hyperloop technology, which is called the 'fifth mode of transport', employs electromagnetically levitating pods within vacuum tubes, allowing for speeds of up to Mach 1.0 while being resistant to weather and energy-efficient.
