AstraZeneca India Gets Clearance to Import Lokelma Formulations

AstraZeneca Pharma India has got the approval from the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) to import drug formulations of Lokelma (sodium zirconium cyclosilicate). The clearance is an important achievement for the company to strengthen its product portfolio in India. Lokelma is a potassium-binding compound that is administered for the treatment of hyperkalemia, a condition of abnormally high levels of potassium in the blood that can be potentially life-threatening in patients with kidney impairment or heart failure. The import license enables AstraZeneca to bring this new treatment to the Indian market, which could benefit many patients suffering from hyperkalemia. This initiative is another demonstration of AstraZeneca's determination to bring cutting-edge medical treatments to India.
