Balrampur Chini Mills To Begin Commercial Gypsum Board Production By December 2027

India’s leading sugar producer is diversifying into building materials, leveraging by-products from its sugar operations. This strategic move aims to create sustainable, high-value gypsum boards while strengthening revenue streams beyond sugar and ethanol.

The preferential issue of 4.50 billion rupees will provide the financial backbone for the company’s diversification. Balrampur Chini Mills is channeling 1.60 billion rupees into a lactogypsum processing plant at Kumbhi, designed to transform PLA by-products into gypsum boards.

Gypsum Board Production Plans

The company’s new facility is expected to produce 7.6 million gypsum boards annually, with commercial production slated for December 2027.
