Bengaluru Turns Water into Wealth: BWSSB's ₹100 Crore Victory

The Central Government's Jal Hi Amrit competition has conferred a ₹100 crore award upon the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) for city-wide innovations in water conservation and management. The award, announced by the Jal Shakti Ministry on Tuesday, hopes to incentivize and promote the cultivation of sustainable water practices for urban areas. The successful strategies adopted by BWSSB focus on rainwater harvesting, groundwater recharge, and improvements to water distribution systems. As per the recommendations of the Board, the prize money will again be utilized for the further enhancement of the water infrastructure of Bengaluru and to sustain ongoing conservation projects. The achievement shows the commitment on the city's part to deal with water scarcity problems and sets a benchmark for other urban centers in India.
