BIMSTEC Summit Set for Full House as All Leaders Confirm Attendance

In a Thailand diplomatic coup, the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that all seven leaders of the member countries of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation have committed to attending next year's summit in Bangkok. The 6th BIMSTEC Summit on April 2-4, 2025, will feature heads of state from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Thailand. This senior-level meeting, the first physical summit since 2018, seeks to drive forward the "Prosperous, Resilient, and Open BIMSTEC" vision led by Thailand. The summit will emphasize deliverables of substance, such as the BIMSTEC Bangkok Vision 2030 and the Report of the Eminent Persons' Group on the Future Direction of BIMSTEC.
