BJP Fires Back at DMK on Language Row, Brings Up Sundar Pichai’s Hindi Education

In order to refute the DMK government's position on the language issue, the BJP has cited Google CEO Sundar Pichai's experience learning Hindi while in college. Pichai, who was born in Tamil Nadu, acknowledged that he didn't speak Hindi well before enrolling at IIT Kharagpur, where he picked up the language and embraced its subtle cultural connotations. The significance of Hindi as a unifying language throughout India, according to BJP leaders, is reflected in this. The comments coincide with continuing hostilities over the DMK's resistance to the imposition of Hindi, as Tamil Nadu leaders support the preservation of regional languages. Citing Pichai's success as evidence, the BJP maintains that learning Hindi improves Indians' chances abroad. The larger North-South split on linguistic policies in India is brought to light by this discussion.
