BMC Launches Sprinkling Drive To Tackle Air Pollution And Dust In Mumbai

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has rolled out a large-scale sprinkling drive across Mumbai to combat worsening air pollution and dust caused by ongoing infrastructure projects and urban congestion. The initiative is supported by the civic body’s 2026–27 budget, which earmarks ₹159.82 crore for environment and climate change programs.  

Officials confirmed that the sprinkling drive will be implemented in high-traffic zones, construction-heavy areas, and pollution hotspots. The move comes as Mumbai continues to record poor to hazardous Air Quality Index (AQI) levels, raising concerns about public health and environmental sustainability.
