Breaking Barriers: India Emerges as Clinical Trials Hotspot

India is quickly becoming a destination of choice for worldwide clinical trials, says Sanjay Vyas, Executive Vice President, Parexel. India has moved up from 20th position to among the top 5-10 destinations of choice for the conduct of clinical studies. This is driven by regulatory reforms decreasing approval timelines, a vast diversified patient pool, enhanced medical infrastructure, and geopolitical changes. More than 90 new requests for Indian studies were received in the last 18 months from international pharmaceutical firms. Parexel is looking into decentralized trials and using real-world evidence to speed up research. The Indian clinical research organization market is expected to cross $3 billion in five to seven years, cementing India's status as an emerging hub for clinical trials.
