Breaking Records! Delhi Police Issues 74 Lakh Challans, Collects Rs 46 Crore in Fines

In 2024, the Delhi Traffic Police issued more than 74 lakh challans and notices, resulting in the collection of Rs 46.29 crore in fines. This data was presented by Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai, in the Lok Sabha. The enforcement comprised 23.09 lakh on-site challans and 51.41 lakh notices generated through automated traffic violation detection systems. The increase in traffic violations is attributed to rising vehicular numbers, lack of commuter awareness, and stricter rule enforcement. To address these challenges, Delhi Police has intensified road safety programs in educational institutions and public spaces, alongside enhanced enforcement measures.
