Breaking the Speed Barrier: India's Rail Revolution Could Feature Japan's Fastest Bullet Train Yet

India is also mulling using Japan's cutting-edge E10 bullet train technology for its existing high-speed rail corridor between Ahmedabad and Mumbai. Japan's East Railway is developing the E10 trains, which will be operational in Japan by 2030. The new-generation trains are capable of a top speed of 400 km/h, significantly higher than the proposed E5 model. The likely adoption of E10 technology aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of world-class infrastructure in India. India and Japan could introduce the new generation of the Shinkansen Alfa-X (E10) jointly in 2029-30, if adopted. The move comes at a time of close bilateral cooperation between the two nations and India's interest in embracing cutting-edge transport solutions.
