Bullseye in Madrid: Yadav and Jyothi Anchor India’s Compound Surge at Archery World Cup

India's archers showcased a one-sided performance at the fourth and final leg of the Archery World Cup 2025 in Madrid, with Rishabh Yadav and Jyothi Surekha Vennam leading the charge in compound events.

Performance highlights:

Men's compound qualification was topped by Rishabh Yadav with 716 points, followed by Turkish and South Korean archers.

Women's compound overall champion Jyothi Surekha Vennam was leading the women's compound section with 715 points.

Their cumulative score gave India the number one seed in the mixed compound team event, and in the process, they shattered the world record with 1431 points.

Team performance and individual capacity:

India's men's compound trio of Yadav, Priyansh (710) and Aman Saini (709) topped the list with a combined score of 2135 points.

The women's foursome, which included Jyothi, Parneet Kaur (702), and newcomer Prithika Pradeep (699), topped the race with 2116 points.

Prithika, 16, made an impression on her World Cup debut, assisting India to edge Mexico and South Korea in the team table.

Momentum and milestones:

Yadav's performance is his best ever and follows Shanghai's bronze medal win earlier this season.

Jyothi's top seeding is a result of consistent performances at earlier World Cup levels, cementing her dominance in compound archery.

India now targets elimination podium places and a decent qualification to the Nanjing World Cup Final.
