Calendar Check: July 2025 Bank Holidays Announced, Regional Closures Across 7 Days

As July 2025 begins, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released its official list of state-wise bank holidays, highlighting seven specific days when banks will remain closed due to regional, religious, and cultural observances. In addition to these, banks will also be shut on all Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays of the month, bringing the total number of closure days to 13 in some regions.

1. July 3 (Thursday) – Kharchi Puja  
   Banks in Agartala will remain closed to mark Kharchi Puja, a traditional Hindu festival in Tripura dedicated to the fourteen deities known as Chaturdasha Devata.

2. July 5 (Saturday) – Guru Hargobind Ji’s Birthday  
   Banks in Jammu and Srinagar will be shut in observance of the birth anniversary of Guru Hargobind, the sixth Sikh Guru.

3. July 14 (Monday) – Beh Deinkhlam  
   Banks in Shillong will be closed for Beh Deinkhlam, a vibrant festival celebrated by the Jaintia tribe in Meghalaya.

4. July 16 (Wednesday) – Harela  
   Dehradun will see bank closures for Harela, a festival marking the onset of the monsoon and celebrated in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand and parts of Himachal Pradesh.

5. July 17 (Thursday) – Death Anniversary of U Tirot Singh  
   Banks in Shillong will remain shut to commemorate the death anniversary of U Tirot Singh, a revered Khasi freedom fighter.

6. July 19 (Saturday) – Ker Puja  
   Banks in Agartala will be closed again for Ker Puja, a Tripura festival dedicated to the guardian deity Ker, believed to protect the region from calamities.

7. July 28 (Monday) – Drukpa Tshe-zi  
   Banks in Gangtok will be shut for Drukpa Tshe-zi, a Buddhist festival marking Lord Buddha’s first sermon, observed on the fourth day of the sixth month in the Tibetan lunar calendar.

Additional Closures

- July 6, 13, 20, and 27 (Sundays) – Weekly holiday  
- July 12 and 26 (Second and Fourth Saturdays) – Biweekly closures observed nationwide
