Cinema: A Beacon of Hope for Civilization, Says Wim Wenders on India Tour

Legendary German filmmaker Wim Wenders, on his first-tour of India, stressed the relevance of cinema as a tool to shape a civilized future. Amidst the 18 films being screened in 5 Indian cities, Wenders expressed concern regarding digital transition and storytelling and advocated a traditional big-screen theatrical experience. The 79-year-old director, celebrated for mystic road movies, called filmmaking the need of the hour, an "amazing driving force", which imparts soul to one's works. The retrospective called 'King of the Road - The India Tour' runs between 5 and 23 February 2025.
