Climate Goals Falter: UN Deadline Missed by Majority of Nations

As of February 10, 2025, only 10 out of 195 countries have submitted their updated Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) for 2035, missing the United Nations' critical deadline. Major emitters, including China, India, and the European Union, are among those who failed to meet the submission date. This widespread delay raises concerns about the global commitment to limiting temperature rise to 1.5 degrees Celsius, as outlined in the Paris Agreement. The absence of updated plans from key nations underscores the challenges in achieving collective climate action goals.
