Colgate-Palmolive India Sees Significant Reduction in Tax Demand

Colgate-Palmolive (India) Ltd has received a revised tax demand order, significantly reducing the amount from ₹47.5 million to ₹1.4 million. This development comes as a relief for the FMCG giant, which has been dealing with tax-related issues in recent months. The company had previously received a tax demand notice of ₹248.74 crore in July 2024 for transfer pricing-related issues, which it had planned to challenge before the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal. This latest reduction in tax demand suggests a favorable outcome for Colgate-Palmolive in its ongoing discussions with tax authorities, potentially easing concerns about the impact on its financial operations.
