Avoid Cash Advances

Cash withdrawals using credit cards attract immediate interest and high fees. Use them only in emergencies and prefer debit cards or UPI for cash needs. 

Choose The Right Card

Compare at least three to four cards before applying. Look for zero annual fee cards or those where rewards outweigh costs. Check fine print on “lifetime free” offers to ensure they remain valid beyond introductory periods. 

Stay Within Credit Limits

Exceeding your credit limit triggers over-limit fees. Maintain a credit utilization ratio below 30% to avoid charges and improve your credit score.

RBI mandates transparent billing formats. Review monthly statements for hidden charges, reward redemption fees, or foreign transaction costs, and dispute any unauthorized charges promptly.
