Crunching Numbers, Not Stereotypes: Thapar's Recipe for Business Success

India Today Conclave 2025 today witnessed some powerful statements made by Namita Thapar, Executive Director, Emcure Pharmaceuticals, about the need to assess businesses based on performance and not gender. While talking of the session "Breaking Barriers and Building Legacies," Thapar focused on the view that business success hinges on fiscal outcomes. She recounted the story of her company, Emcure Pharmaceuticals, going public, saying investors literally did not have any other parameter to assess the value of the company other than financial performance. This sentiment was echoed by fellow panelists Avarna Jain and Anu Ranjan in saying that results and numbers were the real determinants of business success. They discussed how the environment has been changing for women in business and how encouraging women into the workforce was badly needed.
