Delhi Earthquake: Center Calms Fears but Warns of Aftershocks

A 4.0 magnitude earthquake struck Delhi-NCR at 5:36 AM today, with its epicenter near Dhaula Kuan at a depth of 5 km. The shallow quake caused strong tremors, prompting residents to rush out of their homes. Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged citizens to stay calm and be prepared for possible aftershocks. Dr. OP Mishra, director of the National Centre for Seismology, reassured the public that aftershocks are expected to be of lower magnitude, around 2.8, which will help "heal" the seismic zone. No casualties or significant damage have been reported so far. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and advising people to follow safety protocols.
