Key Highlights: Rewarding Sporting Excellence

Under the revamped Mukhyamantri Khel Protsahan Yojana, Delhi now offers unprecedented cash awards to athletes winning medals at prestigious global events: Rs 7 crore for Olympic and Paralympic gold medalists, Rs 5 crore for silver, and Rs 3 crore for bronze.

Medal-winning athletes from Delhi will also be eligible for government jobs, with Olympic gold and silver medalists qualifying for Group A positions, bronze medalists for Group B roles, and Paralympic medalists for Group B or C jobs depending on the event.

Athletes competing nationally and internationally will receive annual financial support of up to Rs 20 lakh, along with medical insurance and travel assistance to nurture their careers and well-being.

Boosting Education with Technology

To bridge the digital gap in government schools, the Cabinet approved setting up 350 modern computer labs equipped with 40 desktops each, prioritizing government schools running double shifts, with Rs 50 crore budgeted.

Approximately 1,200 meritorious Class 10 students, particularly from underprivileged backgrounds, will be awarded high-performance i7 laptops under the Mukhyamantri Digital Education Scheme, bolstering academic opportunities.

Orientation programs and initiatives ensure this tech-based transformation reaches every corner of Delhi’s public school system.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta termed these measures “historic and visionary,” linking them to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Khelo India’ and ‘Fit India’ campaigns. The initiatives aim to recognize and nurture diverse talents, promote inclusive progress, and provide career security for athletes, while equipping students with essential digital skills for the future.
