Delta Electronics India Inks 12-Year Wind Power Pact to Power Tamil Nadu Plants, Slash Carbon Emissions

Delta Electronics India is making significant strides toward sustainability by entering into a 12-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Ventus Energy Consultancy. This deal will allow them to harness 9.6 million units of wind-generated electricity each year for their manufacturing and operational facilities in Tamil Nadu. This strategic initiative is expected to cut Delta’s carbon footprint by around 6,979 metric tonnes annually, which aligns perfectly with India’s ambitious climate objectives and the company’s global net-zero vision.

Key Highlights:

Delta will be sourcing wind power from farms located in Tirunelveli, Tuticorin, and Tiruppur, with the energy delivered through the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) grid.
Thanks to the agreement facilitated by Ventus Energy Consultancy, Delta anticipates a significant reduction in its annual carbon emissions by 6,979 metric tonnes, which will greatly lessen their dependence on fossil fuels.
In 2023, Delta achieved a remarkable 39% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions compared to its 2021 baseline and has contributed to global electricity savings of over 45.5 billion kWh since 2010, effectively avoiding 23.84 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions.
The company’s sustainability roadmap includes plans to expand renewable sourcing across its Indian facilities, implement smart grid innovations, and utilize real-time energy monitoring through Delta’s own automation and IoT technologies.
Delta proudly operates 35 certified green buildings and two net-zero certified data centers worldwide, underscoring its commitment to decarbonization and green innovation.
This PPA is a vital part of Delta’s commitments under global initiatives like RE100 and the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
