Democracy’s Defenders Mobilize: Congress Sets Stage for Constitution Bachao Spectacle

Preparations are underway throughout the country for the Congress party’s “Constitution Bachao” (Save the Constitution) rally, which will be held on April 28. The rally is part of a nationwide campaign under the direction of the party’s national leadership with the objective of raising awareness of restoration and protection of constitutional values and to counter the purported attempts by the party’s opponents to undermine the Constitution.

 

The meeting at the office of MLA Virendra Chaudhary in Farenda, Uttar Pradesh, was convened to finalize preparations for the rally. The rally will be held at the Basti Kachhari near the Atal Prekshagrah Maidan, with a host of senior Congress leaders, including National General Secretary Avinash Pandey, National Spokesperson Supriya Shrinate, State President Ajay Rai, and National Secretary Satyanarayan Patel, scheduled to participate. District Congress Committee President Vijay Singh Advocate, who presided over the meeting, expressed the importance of mobilizing ground support and soliciting broad participation from societal segments.

 

Inspiration has arisen in Jaipur, Rajasthan, for state-level preparation for a rally that will be addressed by Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge. The Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee is preparing for the executive meeting to coordinate preparations, and a series of district- and assembly-level rallies will happen in the coming weeks leading to a national campaign.

 

The rallies are a part of the Congress’s 40-day “Samvidhan Bachao Abhiyan,” which will occur in a phased, sequenced pattern at the state, district, and assembly level and culminate in a door-to-door campaign. The activities are designed to highlight issues like unemployment, inflation, the rural economic crisis, and concerns about alleged by exempt misuse of constitutional bodies.
