Diplomacy in Action: India's Global Reach Frees 10,000 Nationals

In a historic milestone, the Modi government has managed to secure the repatriation of more than 10,000 Indian nationals incarcerated overseas since 2014. This achievement testifies to the government's indefatigable diplomatic work and unflinching dedication to the well-being of Indian citizens abroad.

 

The most recent achievement was witnessed when the UAE granted amnesty to 500 Indian prisoners during the sacred month of Ramzan, reflecting the increased bilateral relations between India and the Gulf countries. Over the past years, comparable endeavors have shown substantial achievements in nations such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Iran, Bahrain, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan. Prominent cases include the amnesty of 850 prisoners by Saudi Arabia in 2019 and the reprieve of death punishments for Indian Navy veterans in Qatar.

 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s personal rapport with global leaders and proactive diplomacy have been instrumental in these efforts. From fishermen accidentally crossing borders to civilians detained for minor infractions, thousands have been given a fresh start through these initiatives.

 

This achievement highlights India’s growing global stature and its commitment to protecting its citizens abroad.
