Driving Change: Gadkari Promises Indian Roads Will Outshine US by 2027

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has said India's road network would surpass the United States' quality within two years. Addressing Times Drive Auto Summit 2025, Gadkari said the development of highways at a rapid pace, with 38 "clean highways" to lower logistics cost and enhance connectivity, has been impressive. Gadkari highlighted major cuts in travel time on major corridors such as Delhi-Mumbai (12 hours) and Bengaluru-Chennai (2 hours).

Gadkari also emphasized India's emphasis on electric vehicle adoption and sustainable transport. With a 60-kilometer road construction target per day, he was confident of gaining world-class infrastructure to make India globally competitive. The ambitious project is in line with the vision of the government to reduce logistics costs and promote economic growth.
