Green Goddesses: India Taps into Female Power to Energize Renewable Sector

In a groundbreaking move, India will launch a women-centric program to propel its renewable energy industry. The program will seek to close the huge gender gap in the green economy, where women constitute just 11% compared to the global average of 32%. The program will focus on upskilling women under the Skill India program, particularly in solar installation and maintenance. The government will create facilitating conditions in training and workplaces, including safe transport and improved facilities in rural areas. By tapping into women's grassroots experience in managing resources, India is hoping to accelerate its transition to a net-zero emissions goal by 2070.
