The GMLR Phase IV involves constructing twin tunnels beneath Sanjay Gandhi National Park, connecting Goregaon’s Film City to Mulund’s Khindipada. The ₹16.62 billion contract includes civil works, tunnel boring, and advanced safety systems. This phase is crucial to reducing travel time from over an hour to just 20 minutes.

Approved by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the project’s cost escalated from ₹12.93 billion to ₹21.13 billion. The tunnel work is expected to be completed by October 2028, following the flyover opening in May 2026.
