Hit, Smash, Repeat: IPL’s First Week Is a Total Slay

The IPL 2025 season has burst with record-breaking batting achievements in its first five games. Teams have welcomed aggression, hitting 119 sixes and 184 fours, creating new records for boundary totals. Six out of the ten innings have been over 200 runs, and Punjab Kings took the lead by scoring a whopping 243/5 against Gujarat Titans—the record-breaking T20 total at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium.

Shreyas Iyer's unbeaten 97 off 42 balls and Shashank Singh's 44 off 16 balls blitz propelled Punjab to this record score. Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals also provided fireworks in a game when both sides scored more than 240 runs. The average run rate of the league has increased by 17% as the batsmen dominated on flat wickets.

With boundary intent up 66%, IPL 2025 is all set to be one of the most exciting seasons so far.
