Hollywood's AI Gamble: How Fake Movie Trailers Are Turning Clicks Into Cash

A new trend is taking over YouTube: hyper-realistic imitation movie trailers created with artificial intelligence. The trailers, which are frequently indistinguishable from real ones, have turned into viral hits, gaining millions of views and igniting controversy regarding copyright, creativity, and ethics. Accounts such as Screen Culture, which has gained more than 1.4 billion views, are at the forefront by combining AI-created imagery with official content to produce believable trailers for movies such as Superman and Fantastic Four.

 

Rather than cracking down on these illegal productions, Hollywood studios are silently reaping profits from them. Industry giants such as Warner Bros., Sony Pictures, and Paramount are asserting ad revenue on these videos, channelling money into their pockets. The approach has come under fire from SAG-AFTRA, who describe it as a "race to the bottom," claiming studios are profiting off actors' likenesses and intellectual property.
