HSRP Scam: Watch Out for Bogus OTPs and Fake Sites

In a recent turn of events, car owners in Pune and other metropolitan cities are becoming victims of fake websites claiming to be official portals for High-Security Registration Plates (HSRP) booking. The fake websites are sending OTPs to unsuspecting drivers and overcharging for registration. The Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) has extended the deadline for HSRP installation to April 30, 2025, resulting in a rush among car owners to get it done. Officially, authorities request that citizens make use of only the official site, Transport.maharashtra.gov.in, to book HSRP. The cyber police have been complaining of cheated vehicle owners, and the RTO issues a warning not to use any unauthorized websites. Vehicle owners should be careful and check for genuine sites before payment.
