Improving Air Quality: Researchers Set New Benchmark for PM2.5 Toxicity

In a path-breaking research, Indian scientists from the Bose Institute have come up with a 'standard of toxicity' for PM2.5 pollution, emphasizing the utmost importance of maintaining PM2.5 levels at less than 70 micrograms per cubic meter to avoid an exponential rise in toxicity. In this research, spearheaded by Prof. Abhijit Chatterjee, the Bose Institute scientists discuss the atmospheric aerosols over Kolkata and emphasize the need to curb biomass and solid waste burning, which is one of the main contributors to PM2.5 toxicity.
