India's Port Sector Set for Massive Expansion: 500-550 MTPA Annual Capacity Growth by 2028

India's port industry is set for significant growth with a plan to add capacity by 500-550 MTPA every year by FY2028. Mega ports with more than 300 MTPA handling capacity, such as at Vadhavan-JNPT cluster, Paradip, and Deendayal, are to be developed by the government. Major plans include setting up transshipment facilities in South India, deepening draft at major ports, and raising private sector involvement in port operations. These initiatives are part of India's Maritime India Vision 2030, where world-class port infrastructure is being developed to enhance trade and economic development.
