Irrfan Khan: A Timeless Legacy of Versatility and Humanity—Remembering the Actor Who Redefined Cinema

Irrfan Khan, a versatile actor known for his humility and effortless performances, embedded his legacy in Indian and international cinema during a career that spanned over 30 years. He was born in Jaipur, and his initial dream was to go cricketer, but his life pivoted toward acting when he graduated from the National School of Drama. His career began gently with some minor roles in television on film, beginning with Mira Nair's "Salaam Bombay!". He became well-known, gaining acclaim for his performances in "Haasil" and "The Namesake".

 

Khan's talent knew no bounds and reached him to Hollywood blockbuster features like "Slumdog Millionaire," "Life of Pi," and "Jurassic World". He worked with famous actors and bagged numerous accolades including one Padma Shri award in 2011.

 

In 2018, Khan was diagnosed with neuroendocrine cancer. Even while he was battling this unfortunate illness, he kept working with "Angrezi Medium" as his last film. He died on April 28, 2020, leaving behind a legacy of terrific performances and a void in the industry. Khan was posthumously honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award and remembered during the 93rd Academy Awards.
