Literature Meets Leadership: Modi Inaugurates Marathi Sahitya Sammelan in Capital Spectacle

Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister, inaugurated the 98th Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan at Vigyan Bhavan

On February 21, 2005. The conference took place in the national capital after an interval of 71 years, celebrating the rich heritage and contemporary relevance of Marathi language and literature. In his address, PM Modi stated-, "Language is the carrier of culture," and elaborated on Marathi being a full-fledged language endowed with courage, beauty, and modernism. The event include panel discussions, book exhibitions, cultural performances, and a symbolic literary train journey from Pune to Delhi. Other notable attendees included Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, NCP(SP) chief Sharad Pawar, and a host of distinguished Marathi writers. From discussions of language preservation and translation to digitalization's impact on literary works, the Sammelan is poised to cover a whole lot.
