Maharashtra Khadi Board's Bold Move: 'Khadi Mitras' and Fashion Shows to Revive Traditional Craft

The Maharashtra State Khadi and Village Industries Board (MSKVIB) has launched a new program to appoint 'Khadi Mitras' (Khadi Friends) and hold fashion shows to popularize khadi among youngsters. In this initiative, six colleges will be involved in the program to engage students with khadi projects and develop a sense of ownership over India's traditional hand-spun fabric. The fashion shows will demonstrate the versatility of khadi by blending traditional craftsmanship with modern designs that should appeal to the younger generation. This is part of MSKVIB's larger plan for the revival of the khadi industry, empowerment of local artisans, and establishment of khadi as a sustainable fashion option.
