Masala Magic: How One Man Turned Grandma's Spices into Gold

Vishal Chordia, a 41-year-old Pune-based entrepreneur, has been able to convert his family's small spice business into a successful venture. Taking over the business in 1999, Chordia renamed it from Pravin Masalewale to Suhana Spices in 2001. Through innovative changes and consumer-focused strategies, he diversified the product range to ready-to-cook meals to suit local tastes. The firm currently has nine manufacturing facilities, touching nine Indian states and 25 overseas markets. What was an Rs 18 crore venture in 1999 has become a Rs 600-crore operation by 2018. Chordia's success story is a testament to the growth and innovation potential of traditional family businesses.
