Mazagon Dock, Indian and Brazilian Navies Ink Trilateral MoU to Deepen Submarine and Maritime Cooperation

Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd (MDL), India’s leading defence shipyard, has entered a landmark trilateral MoU with the Indian Navy and Brazilian Navy focused on maintenance and life-cycle support of Scorpène-class submarines and other naval platforms. Signed during Indian Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi’s visit to Brazil, the agreement elevates India–Brazil defence and maritime cooperation with a clear industry–navy interface.​

Under the MoU, the three parties will share technical know-how, maintenance practices, logistics frameworks, and training modules to enhance operational availability and long-term sustainment of the Scorpène fleet. The pact is also expected to spur joint work in defence R&D, innovation in repair and overhaul technologies, and closer coordination between government agencies and defence industries in both countries.​
