Millions Flock to Sangam for Maghi Purnima Snan at Maha Kumbh 2025

On Wednesday, February 12, 2025, over 2 crore devotees took a holy dip in the Sangam at Prayagraj, celebrating the auspicious Maghi Purnima during the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela. The event began at dawn and was marked by heightened security measures and special arrangements to manage the large crowds. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath monitored the situation from Lucknow starting at 4 am. This snan marked the conclusion of the month-long ‘Kalpavas,’ with around 10 lakh ‘Kalpavasis’ preparing to leave. Cricket legend Anil Kumble and his wife joined the ritual as regular pilgrims. Since the beginning of the Maha Kumbh, more than 47 crore people have taken a dip in the Sangam. The UP government initiated ‘Operation Chaturbhuj’ to ensure the safety of pilgrims, and a special traffic plan was put in place. The Maha Kumbh is set to conclude on February 26 with the final ‘Amrit Snan’ on Mahashivratri.
