Independent MP Rajesh Ranjan, popularly known as Pappu Yadav, has been remanded to two-day judicial custody by a Patna court in connection with a 1995 forgery case. Arrested late Friday night, Yadav will remain under treatment at Patna Medical College and Hospital. His bail plea is scheduled for hearing on Monday.
In a significant development, Independent MP Pappu Yadav was sent to judicial custody for two days by the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in Patna. The arrest stems from a case registered in 1995 under Section 467 of the IPC (forgery of documents).
Yadav, representing the Purnea Lok Sabha constituency, was taken into custody from his residence in Mandiri after a warrant was issued by the MP/MLA court. Initially resisting arrest, Yadav claimed the warrant was for property attachment, not detention. His lawyer, Shivnandan Bharti, argued that the case was politically motivated.
