In a major fillip to India's defense production, Alpha Tocol Engineering Services Private Ltd has completed the manufacture of the rear fuselage of the Tejas Mark-1A light combat aircraft. This achievement is a significant milestone in ensuring self-sufficiency in defense and realizing public-private partnerships. The part was transferred to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) in Bengaluru, increasing the production capacity and fulfilling delivery schedules for the Indian Air Force from 2025-26 onwards. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh welcomed the development as proof of India's increasing indigenous production capabilities.
HAL's collaboration with private players like L&T and Tata Advanced Systems will assist in ramping up Tejas production, previously halted on account of supply chain issues and the non-availability of engines. This will be critical to meet Indian Air Force requirements and enhance India's defence production capability.
