Air India has announced 78 additional international flights between March 10 and March 18, 2026, to Europe and the United States, in response to disruptions caused by the ongoing West Asia crisis. The move adds 17,660 seats across nine routes, ensuring reliable travel options for stranded and affected passengers.
Expanded Flight Operations
The airline confirmed that extra flights will operate to New York (JFK), London (Heathrow), Frankfurt, Paris (CDG), Amsterdam, and Zurich, alongside services to Colombo and Malé. These routes will be served by Boeing 787-8 aircraft for long-haul destinations and A320neo aircraft for short-haul South Asian routes.
Reason For Deployment
The escalation of tensions in West Asia has disrupted regional air travel, forcing airlines to reroute flights and reduce capacity. Air India’s decision to add flights is aimed at easing congestion, supporting stranded travelers, and maintaining connectivity with key global hubs.
Passenger Benefits
The additional flights will provide 17,660 extra seats across both directions, offering relief to passengers facing limited travel options. The initiative also strengthens India’s aviation presence in Europe and the US during a period of high demand and uncertainty.
