Air India Express will launch a direct daily flight between Agartala and Bagdogra starting October 26, 2025. This new air link enhances connectivity between Tripura and North Bengal, boosting tourism and trade opportunities. The 180-seater Boeing flight promises affordable fares, convenient timings, and seamless access to popular hill stations.
Air India Express is set to commence a vital direct flight service connecting Agartala, the capital of Tripura, with Bagdogra near Siliguri in North Bengal from October 26, 2025. This new route aims to strengthen regional connectivity and support tourism and economic exchange between Northeast India and North Bengal.
The daily service will operate on a 180-seater Boeing aircraft, departing Bagdogra at 4:30 PM and arriving in Agartala at 5:40 PM. The return flight will take off from Agartala at 6:10 PM, reaching Bagdogra by 7:20 PM. Ticket bookings are now open, with fares set at affordable rates to encourage family travel to hill stations such as Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Mirik, and even the northeastern state of Sikkim.
This launch comes as part of Air India Express’s winter flight schedule. To accommodate the new Agartala-Bagdogra route, the airline will temporarily suspend its Agartala-Guwahati flight. However, connectivity to Guwahati remains assured through IndiGo and Akasa Air, who continue to operate flights along that route.
Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport Manager KC Bina assured passengers that there will be no disruption in connectivity between Agartala and Guwahati and emphasized the strategic advantage of establishing this new air bridge. The direct link is expected to make travel smoother, reducing journey times and avoiding detours through Kolkata or Guwahati.
Tourism stakeholders in Tripura have enthusiastically welcomed the development, noting its potential to significantly boost tourism flows and trade with North Bengal, fostering regional ties and economic growth.
