India will form a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to produce regional transport aircraft, a major move towards its "Make in India" policy. This was announced by Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu, highlighting India's intent to develop, produce, and maintain its own aircraft. The SPV will have stakeholders join together to draw up a blueprint for production in five years. This step is intended to cut back on imports from foreign manufacturers and establish a strong domestic aviation ecosystem, in line with India's increasing demand for air travel.
