Apollo Cradle & Children's, the children's and maternity care business of the Apollo Hospitals Group, will open 7-8 new centers in India over the next five years, taking its presence in India's fast-growing mother-and-child health market by leaps and bounds. This is a part of a bigger transformation at Apollo Hospitals, which simultaneously is aggressively growing its core multi-specialty and digital health businesses.
Key Highlights:
Expansion Drive: Apollo Cradle & Children's has 13 operational centers with 363 beds in major metros like Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Amritsar, Gurugram, Noida, and Ghaziabad. The new centers will add strength to its presence, especially in Tier 2 cities, following recent additions like the integrated Electronic City facility in Bangalore.
Integrated Family Healthcare: Electronic City's new center in Bangalore combines maternity, children's, and preventive care all into a single facility, featuring state-of-the-art birthing suites, a Level III NICU, pediatric subspecialties, and Apollo One's preventive health solutions, such as AI-based diagnostics and tailored health plans.
Strategic Realignment: Apollo Hospitals is reportedly considering selling Apollo Cradle & Children's, valued at ₹1,000–1,200 crore, to fund its ₹8,000 crore expansion in core hospital and digital healthcare sectors. This could redefine the competitive dynamics in India's ₹30,000 crore mother-and-child care industry.
Financials: Apollo Hospitals has reported robust FY25 numbers, with consolidated revenue rising 14% at ₹21,794 crore and profit after tax rising 61% at ₹1,445 crore. The group is going to expand by 4,300 beds in the next 3-4 years, including major new hospitals at Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Gurugram, Kolkata, and New Delhi.
Care Innovation: Apollo Cradle's new initiatives such as "Now for Future" for second-time mothers and personalized lullabies for the baby reflect its focus on holistic, family-centered healthcare and patient care.
"The union of Apollo Cradle and Apollo One in this new format reflects our unflinching dedication towards providing quality and affordable healthcare to every member of the family in a luxurious experience." — Dr. Sangita Reddy, Joint Managing Director, Apollo Hospitals Group
What's Next?
Apollo Cradle & Children's expansion is an indication of continued faith in India's high-growth maternity and child care space, as Apollo Hospitals is gearing up to scale up its multi-specialty and digital health platforms. The fate of the proposed divestment will be closely watched, with private equity interest poised to fuel consolidation in the space.
