Apple Expands Manufacturing Footprint, Reveals First List of ‘Made in Vietnam’ Products

Apple has officially published its first list of products manufactured in Vietnam, marking a significant shift in its global supply chain strategy. The announcement comes as the tech giant continues to diversify production beyond China, strengthening Vietnam’s role as a key manufacturing hub.  

Key Highlights from Apple’s Vietnam Expansion  
- Vietnam now contributes to the production and assembly of flagship Apple devices, including iPads, MacBooks, Mac mini, HomePods, Apple Watches, and AirPods.  
- The 2024 carbon-neutral Mac mini, Apple’s first of its kind, is also being assembled in Vietnam.  
- While iPhones are not yet part of Vietnam’s production lineup, Apple’s Q1 2025 financial report confirmed that most iPhones sold in the US are now made in India.  

Vietnam’s Growing Role in Apple’s Supply Chain  
- By the end of 2025, Vietnam is expected to account for 20 percent of global production of iPads and Apple Watches, 5 percent of MacBooks, and up to 65 percent of AirPods.  
- The number of Apple suppliers with factories or offices in Vietnam has increased from 27 to 35, making the country Apple’s largest manufacturing base in Southeast Asia and the fourth-largest globally.  
- Major Apple partners in Vietnam include Foxconn, BYD, Goertek, Lens, Yuto, and Innovation, all contributing to the assembly and component production of Apple devices.

- Foxconn operates across five localities in Vietnam, employing approximately 80,000 workers and investing a total of $4 billion.
