Tata Group has announced a huge ₹27,000 crore semiconductor plant in Jagiroad, Assam. At the Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit, the factory will manufacture 48 million chips per day, making Assam a central hub in India's emerging semiconductor sector. Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran highlighted the plant's significance in Northeast India's high-tech industrialization, estimating 30,000 new employment opportunities. This investment is part of India's efforts towards self-reliance in chip production, with the initial Made-in-India semiconductor chip anticipated in 2025. The facility will serve a number of sectors such as automotive, communication, and consumer electronics.
