The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has invited bids for 2,000 MW of gridconnected solar power projects, each paired with colocated energy storage systems (ESS). This move is part of India’s broader push to stabilize its renewable energy grid and meet its ambitious 2030 climate targets.

Key Highlights:
  • Project Scope: The tender includes 1,000 MW/4,000 MWh of battery storage, ensuring roundtheclock power availability and better grid integration.
  • Flexible Locations: Developers can choose project sites across India, provided they connect to the InterState Transmission System (ISTS).
  • Bid Timeline: Online submissions are due by July 22, 2025, with offline documents accepted until July 24. Bids will be opened on July 25.
  • Participation Rules: Bidders must offer a minimum of 50 MW and can go up to 1,000 MW, in multiples of 10 MW. Each 1 MW of solar must be paired with at least 0.5 MW/2 MWh of storage.
  • Tech & Compliance: Only modules from the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) are allowed. ESS must be charged solely by solar power to qualify.
  • Financials: Bidders need a net worth of ₹14.24 million per MW and an annual turnover of at least ₹8 million. A performance bank guarantee of ₹3.5 million per MW is also required.
This tender reflects India’s growing emphasis on hybrid solarstorage solutions to ensure reliability, reduce curtailment, and support its clean energy transition.
