Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has unveiled a massive ₹21,406 crore development package aimed at improving rural connectivity across Bihar. The projects, launched under the Rural Works Department, include thousands of new roads and bridges designed to link remote villages with all-weather infrastructure.
Project Highlights And Scope
- A total of 11,346 roads and 730 bridges are planned under multiple schemes
- The Mukhyamantri Gramin Sadak Unnayan Yojana will see construction of 5,047 roads covering 8,893 km at a cost of ₹6,198 crore
- Foundation stones were laid for 4,079 roads spanning 6,484 km, with an allocation of ₹5,627 crore
- Under the revived Mukhyamantri Gramin Setu Yojana, work has begun on 409 bridges worth ₹1,859 crore, with another 295 bridges planned at ₹1,792 crore
Strategic Schemes And Execution
- Additional schemes under the state plan include five bridge projects worth ₹48 crore and 24 more valued at ₹279 crore
- The Sulabh Samparkata Yojana and Mukhyamantri Gramin Sampark Yojana aim to ensure pucca roads reach every hamlet
- The Chief Minister emphasized timely completion and praised the Rural Works Department for its execution efficiency
