Biocon Limited, one of the major biotechnology firms, was served a tax order imposing a ₹8.9 million penalty. This recent regulatory setback follows a string of tax-related troubles for the company. Biocon had been served with a ₹1.16 million penalty by the Karnataka commercial tax authorities earlier this month for GST discrepancies. The firm incurred a larger ₹30.38 million penalty in February for several GST-related issues. While Biocon has not so far responded to this latest penalty, it has already declared it will challenge such orders. Such persisting tax issues may be of concern for investors regarding the firm's financial management and regulatory compliance.
