Tens of thousands of job seekers thronged the Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi as Delhi Congress and Indian Youth Congress (IYC) organized Rahul Gandhi's 55th birthday as a mega job fair, which was dubbed a "historic platform for employment." Over 100 firms and MNCs joined the mega job fair with over 5,000 job prospects across various sectors, including over 3,000 job seekers who were offered jobs on the spot.

Key Highlights:

•  The fair pulled in massive crowds, from PhDs to high school graduates, as a reflection of the high unemployment rate among India's youth.

•  IYC National President Uday Bhanu Chib emphasized that the event was a non-political platform which was specifically designed to bring deserving youth face-to-face with the employers, few of whom got their first job offers at the fair.

•  Delhi Pradesh Congress President Devender Yadav again asserted that the project was in accordance with Rahul Gandhi's consistent demand for youth employment and empowerment.

•  Although the Congress is in the opposition and cannot offer government employment, the success of the fair has generated interest from other companies for subsequent editions.

•  Youth beneficiaries referred to their jobs as a "special birthday gift" and appreciated the opportunity, with pay beginning at ₹18,334.

Prognosis: The large turnout for the job fair is a reflection of the dire need for employment opportunities among educated youth. Organizers intend to scale up such programs, with the ultimate aim of closing the gap between job seekers and employers and maintaining youth empowerment at the forefront of their agenda.
